Delhi Government will soon build library and cultural complex at Qila Rai Pithora: Kapil Mishra

Delhi’s Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra on Thursday said that soon the government will build a library and a Cultural Complex at Qila Rai Pithora, the place which houses the memorial of Prithviraj Chauhan, Delhi’s last Hindu emperor.

He further noted that soon a roadmap will be created to develop this site as a hub of cultural activities.

According to an official document, the Delhi Government has taken upon itself the responsibility for the holistic development of the memorials and museums in Delhi dedicated to national heroes, who have always inspired the people of India to fight for Swaraj and self-respect.

On Thursday, Mishra, along with MLA Gajendra Yadav, visited two historical sites dedicated to Hindu warriors in South Delhi’s Qila Rai Pithora and Mehrauli.

During his visit to the Prithviraj Chauhan Memorial, he noted that this memorial, built in 2002, reflects the magnificent personality of Delhi’s last Hindu emperor. However, despite the building’s existence, due to limited activities for a long time, the memorial now needs redevelopment, the minister pointed out.

While Mishra glanced at the museum built to honour Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, he appreciated the inspirational glimpses of his life and struggles displayed at the site. He said that this museum is not only a matter of pride for Delhi but also a source of inspiration for the entire nation, and urged the citizens to visit the heritage site.

“Shivaji Maharaj’s life was one of triumph, struggle, inspiration, and Swaraj. The way his life and victories have been presented here using modern technology is worth seeing and understanding. Every citizen of Delhi and the country should visit this place,” urged Mishra.
